良薬は口に苦し？　それとも美味し？？

 

幼いころ、オレンジ色のシロップのお薬が苦手でした。　大人になり、親になり、お薬の種類や、子供向けに味が改良されたものなど、その進化に驚きました。　今は、飲みづらいお薬を飲むための、ゼリーがあるくらいです。　私の時代（昭和・・・）は、オブラートしかなかった気がします・・・これもまた、苦手でした。

日々進化し続けるお薬は、私たちの生活には欠かせないものとなっています。

お薬といっても、その種類は様々です。　今回はその中から、漢方薬について、井上レディースクリニック　池田先生がお話ししてくださいました。　ちょっと飲みづらいイメージの漢方薬。　これを読んだら、日々のちょっとした体調の変化に、活用してみたくなるかもしれません。

 

 

皆さんは漢方薬と聞くと、どういうイメージをお持ちですか？

「味が苦手」

「粉薬で飲みにくい」

「本当に効くの？」

外来では患者様からよくそう言ったお声を頂きます。

私も学生時代はほとんど西洋医学しか学ぶ機会がなかったため、「本当に効くの？」「変な後味がのこるなぁ」と思っており、はっきり言って苦手な薬でした。

そんな中、私の漢方薬に対するイメージが変わったお薬を一つご紹介します。

あまりメジャーではないですが、「桔梗湯」というお薬です。

桔梗湯は「桔梗」と「甘草」の２つの生薬で構成されており、のどの痛み、扁桃炎に効果がある漢方薬です。のどの痛みは、西洋薬ではすごく効果的なお薬はあまりなく、意外と辛い症状の１つです。

あるとき、風邪をひいて、のどが痛くてしゃべるのも辛い時に、藁にもすがる思いで手元にあった漢方薬の本を開き、”咽頭痛に効く漢方”を調べて、同僚のＤＲ．に処方してもらいました。試しに飲んでみると、全く苦くなく、すぐに効果が出て痛みが楽になりました。それからは、私の漢方薬に対するイメージが変わり、日々症状に合わせて色々試して飲んでいます。

漢方薬は、含まれる生薬によって味が変わるので、苦いものから、味がほとんどしないものまで様々です。桔梗湯はその中でもかなり癖がなく、飲みやすい薬です（お子さんでも飲める味です）。また、急性期に服用すると、意外と短時間で効果が出ます。桔梗湯の飲みやすさ・効果に感動した私は、病院スタッフや同僚によく勧めていますが、いい感想をいただくことが多いです。

産婦人科では、漢方薬を処方する機会がよくあります。効果が期待でき、副作用も少なく、良い薬だと思います。また種類も豊富なため、症状に合わせて色々試したり、変えてみたりすることも可能です。大きな病気の治療というよりは、日々のちょっとした体調不良に対して気軽に使っていただくと、漢方の良さを実感できると思います。
